Do The High Holiday Justice With This CBD Cannabis Cocktail in a Can
Make 420 memories by shaking up tasty spirits with your favorite cannabis tincture.
If you like a little bit of this and that in your social beverage, it’s not always easy to find the recipe of your dreams. Cannabis cocktails sometimes scare people, and with good reason— if prepared incorrectly or consumed too freely, they can be very intoxicating. Celebrating on 420 should come with a little more care, especially if you plan to partake all day, as you can end up asleep. Disclaimers aside, when made to the right specifications, cannabis and alcohol cocktails can be the perfect experience.
A good rule of thumb is to stay around 10mg of THC per drink, per person, and to not have more than two. It’s also a good idea to try not to have more than an ounce and a half of liquor per drink, a standard pour in most bars. If you’re worried about getting too baked, keep some CBD in the pocket for a calming cocktail that still has a cannabis lens.
Using store bought tincture is a very good look here, they have more strength per milliliter in most cases, and are often a glycerin or alcohol base, the best choice for cocktail creations. Alcohol and glycerin can both do the job of carrying the cannabinoids while also being water soluble. Cannabutter or coconut oil in a drink would require a different drink with some fat in it, like coconut milk, for another more summery time.
First make ginger infused simple, bring 1 cup of sugar, ¾ cup water and 1/2 lb of minced or or grated ginger to a gentle boil. Simmer for 15 minutes then strain. This syrup will make 8-10 cocktails, refrigerate any excess for up to one week.
In a cocktail shaker, add ice, tincture, the juice of ½ lime, and ½ ounce of ginger infused simple syrup and shake until chilled. Pour out roughly 3oz of the the seltzer, strain in the lime tincture mixture and immediately flip the rum nip into the open mouth.
Stick in a reusable straw and add mint leaves and a lime wheel into the remaining space and you’ll get a relatively snug fit that will keep the nip steady for all of your Instagramming and partying.
To make without a can, shake all of the ingredients with ice except seltzer, pour over fresh ice and top with seltzer.
The high holiday looks different all around the country, so this recipe can adapt to your locale and your preferences. Make it with only booze, only cannabis, or any combination of the two, provided you drink responsibly.
