High Volume: Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival
Bonnaroo kicks off in Manchester, Tennessee on June 7-10 and features Eminem, The Killers and Muse as headliners.
The four day festival is packed with some of our favorite bands from every genre, so now matter who you end up seeing, grab your friends, grab your stash and light one up to celebrate 4 epic days of music in Manchester, TN.
Thursday, Bonnaroo starts off strong with badass rock goddess Lissie. Let her storytelling lyrics and mesmerizing guitar bring you to your highest state of consciousness. In the singer/songwriter category we also have Jade Bird, the bright and sunny songstress for a chill set to get lost in. Rock prince Ron Gallo will also be tearing up the stage on Thursday. His songs are raw, pure rock and roll, mix that with sometimes cheeky but always passionate lyrics and you have your new favorite artist. Ron Gallo's vocals are one-of-a-kind so chances are if you are even walking by the stage he's on you'll stop and watch. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong isn't just a great band name, this American jam band will make your body move and your soul fill with sunshine. For a chill, uplifting set make sure you check them out. For your daily dose of dance make sure you see Justin Jay's Fantastic Voyage, Flor and Valentino Khan.
On Friday Porter Robinson's alias Virtual Self and RÜFÜS DU SOL will have you and your friends getting an epic dance workout in those Tennessee fields. In the mood for some american rock, country and blues? Make sure to catch The Revivalists, Sturgill Simpson, and of course don't miss the incredible and iconic Sheryl Crow headlining in the evening. Next, we definitely want to highlight one of the best artists of our generation, Tash Sultana. This Australian multi-instrumentalist is truly a mesmerizing one woman band that will truly make you reach new heights with her music let alone that joint you'll be passing around the crowd. If you see anyone these four days make sure you see Tash Sultana's live set, I promise you- you'll never be the same. New Orleans' Trombone Shorty is another epic multi-instrumentalist you need to see live to believe. His set will be an epic dance party if there ever was one. One of my favorite bands from the U.K., Everything Everything are also performing their own genre of music that you can't help but be addicted to. Everything Everything a truly a one-of-a-kind band, they've never sounded like anyone else and they never will. Not to mention everyone in the band is so engaging to watch on stage you won't even know were to look. Just dance it out instead! Continue your dance party, chill out and get elevated with Austin's minimalist electronic dance music producer Bayonne. So many great artists are closing out the night so you and your friends are in great hands no matter where you are in your Friday night high, and it will end on an even higher note no matter if you see Sheryl Crow, Khalid, Bassnectar and/or Muse!
Saturday is a day filled with great music to check out all the way down to the headliners: Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Kaskade, two unique sets from Bon Iver, and Eminem. During the day though you must get your dance on to dynamic duo Sylan Esso, absolute music legend and Chic leader Nile Rodgers. Nile Rodgers is solely responsible for some of your favorite songs of all time writing and producing with artists including David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Lady Gaga, INXS, Daft Punk, The B-52s, I could go on for actual days (seriously look it up). Nothing is better than seeing that man slay guitar and take you on a journey through time with all of the music he's created over the years. For a super chill yet epic dance party, don't miss electronic and instrumental kings STS9 or Hippie Sabotage. One of my top favorite artists right now, Kali Uchis, is also playing on Friday. Her debut album Isolation which dropped in April is truly an instant classic and seeing those songs brought to life at Bonnaroo is definitely going to be a highlight of the festival. For a country fix bring your friends to the Old Crow Medicine show and to see a truly iconic R&B/Gospel singer, make sure you are feeling the power of Mavis Staples' epic live show. For dose of electrifying rock and psych vibes don't miss Aussie megababes Pond or Chicago darlings Post Animal!
On Sunday, Bonnaroo will finish super strong with Alison Wonderland, Dua Lipa, Alt-J, Future and The Killers all set to headline in the evening. The day is set to be a good one though with iconic Canadian indie rock collective Broken Social Scene, dance party starters from the U.K. Jungle, and the brilliant singer, songwriter and producer Mikky Ekko all taking the stage on Sunday. Grammy-nominated and super swoon worthy R&B and Soul singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar will get those baby making tunes flowing for a chill, transcendental break on your last fest day. One artist that will have everyone talking on Sunday is Thundercat and if you miss him live you'll regret it. Bass aficionado and one of the most remarkable singer-songwriters of our generation truly get taken to another place by Thundercat and his epic live band. Let his mesmerizing songs and live performance bring you to the highest place you've reached all week (whether you've lit up or not!).
